Introduction
I tried out a new format for 2007 (and now intend to keep it indefinitely) because it makes it simpler for people to construct their entries, and means more frequent updates, so that you get a sense of how everyone is doing on a daily basis. The format is to rank all sixteen teams in the playoffs, from the team you think will win the most games to the team you think will win the fewest. Any questions or comments should be directed to Trevor Ball.

Scoring
The basic scoring system is that for each game each team wins, you get 17-n points, where n is the ranking you gave that team. However, as of 2009 I modified that a little to double the points for second round wins, triple the points for conference final wins, and quintuple the points for wins in the finals, with the goal of keeping more people in contention for longer.

Strategy
The strategy is ultimately up to you, but here are some basic tips: Presumably you would want your predicted Cup winner ranked first, since the Cup winner will win sixteen games and all other teams will win fewer than that. You probably then want to have the other conference winner ranked second, and the conference finalists third and fourth, with the other first round winners fifth to eighth, and the first round losers at the bottom half. You’re welcome to use any strategy you want however, and I will not be checking entries except to ensure that every team is ranked once and only once. For example, perhaps you want to hedge your bets, figuring that you’re not sure who will win the StL-Min series, but figure that whoever does win it will go far, so you may want to rank both of them in your top five.

Please use the Entry Form to submit your entry. If you prefer though, you can still email/text/DM your entry to Trevor Ball.

Tie Breaker
As of 2007, I introduced a tie breaking rule. The sequence of tie breakers is:

1.Highest ranking of the Cup winner
2.Highest ranking of the other finalist
3.Highest combined (summed) ranking of the other two conference finalists
4.Highest single ranking of one of the other two conference finalists
5.Highest combined (summed) ranking of the other four conference semi-finalists
6.Highest single ranking of one of the other four conference semi-finalists
7.Highest total goal differential of each ranked team, starting with top ranked teams
8.Coin toss

Entry Fee
The entry fee is $10. You are welcome to enter more than once, but each entry costs $10. Each entry can have only one person’s name (although any number of people may finance the entry). The winner takes the entire pot of the collected fees.
