Hockey Pool Rules

Introduction
Predict the outcome (winner and length) of each playoff series. You must predict all fifteen series at once, keeping in mind that after the first round the teams are reseeded. (Ie. The highest seed in the east faces the lowest seed in the east, and so on.)

2006 First Round Matchups(Seeds in brackets)
1.Ott(1) vs TB(8)
2.Car(2) vs Mon(7)
3.NJ(3) vs NYR(6)
4.Buf(4) vs Phi(5)
5.Det(1) vs Edm(8)
6.Dal(2) vs Col(7)
7.Cal(3) vs Ana(6)
8.Nas(4) vs SJ(5)

Sample Entry
Keep in mind that teams are reseeded after the first round:
1.Ott in 5
2.Mon in 4
3.NJ in 7
4.Buf in 4
5.Edm in 5
6.Col in 6
7.Cal in 6
8.Nas in 6
9.Ott in 6 (over Mon)
10.Buf in 4 (over NJ)
11.Edm in 6 (over Cal)
12.Nas in 5 (over Col)
13.Ott in 4 (over Buf)
14.Edm in 7 (over Nas)
15.Ott in 4 (over Edm)

Scoring
For each series in which you predict the correct winner you get points, (5 for each first round series, 6 for second round, 7 for third round, and 10 for the final), minus the number of games you were off in predicting the length of the series (doubled for the final).
(Eg. You predict the correct winner of a second round series, but the series went seven games and you predicted it would end in five. You would get 6-2=4 points for that series.)

If you predict the correct winner of a series, but they didn't actually play against the team you predicted, it is automatically assessed as though you were off by one game; the actual length of the series doesn't matter.
(Eg. You predicted Ottawa over Dallas in 7 in the final, but Ottawa actually beat Calgary in 4. You would get 10-2(one game doubled for the final)=8 points.)
There is an exception to this rule in that if two teams you predicted would meet in a given round meet in a different round, your predicted length of the series is used for scoring if and only if it works in your favour.
(Eg. You predicted Ottawa over Buffalo in 7 in the third round (conference final), but they actually meet in the second round (conference semifinals). If Ottawa wins in 7 as you had predicted for their meeting, you would get the full 6 points for a perfect second round pick. However, if Ottawa wins in 4, 5, or 6 games, the above rule would apply, and you would be assessed as being off by one game, and would receive 5 points.

Entry Fee
The entry fee is $10. You are welcome to enter more than once, but each entry costs $10. The winner takes the entire pot of the collected fees.
