NBA Playoff Pool Rules

Introduction
I’ve created an NBA basketball pool based on the format I use for my hockey pool. The format is to rank all sixteen teams in the playoffs, from the team you think will win the most games to the team you think will win the fewest. Entries should be submitted to Trevor Ball, via email or phone. Likewise, any questions or comments should be directed to Trevor Ball.

Scoring
The basic scoring system is that for each game each team wins, you get 17-n points, where n is the ranking you gave that team. Those points double for second round wins, triple for conference final wins, and quintuple for wins in the finals (with the goal of keeping more people in contention for longer).

Strategy
The strategy is ultimately up to you, but here are some basic tips: Presumably you would want your predicted championship winner ranked first, since they will win sixteen games and all other teams will win fewer than that. You probably then want to have the other conference winner ranked second, and the conference finalists third and fourth, with the other first round winners fifth to eighth, and the first round losers at the bottom half. You’re welcome to use any strategy you want, however, and I will not be checking entries except to ensure that every team is ranked once and only once. For example, perhaps you want to hedge your bets, figuring that you’re not sure who will win the OKT-UTA series, but figure that whoever does win it will go far, so you may want to rank both of them in your top five.

Please use the Entry Form to submit your entry. If you prefer though, you can still email (or DM) your entry to Trevor Ball.
